WHO: Marvin Goodfriend, professor of economics at the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon, and former senior vice president, policy advisor and research director at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.

WHY: Professor Goodfriend is a leading authority on monetary policy and global financial markets, and serves as chairman of the Galliott Center for Public Policy at the Tepper School. His years at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond included service as senior vice president, policy advisor and director of research. He has served as Senior Staff Economist for President Ronald Reagan’s Council of Economic Advisors, and has conducted economic studies at the European Central Bank, Swiss National Bank and International Monetary Fund. He also sits on the advisory board for the Journal of Monetary Economics, and is the associate editor of the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking.
