MBA students from the Tepper School show off their school's broad cultural diversity with the 8th annual International Festival. More than 30 different cultures are represented in the Tepper student body. This year's event expresses the theme of building and developing global business leaders through the gift of cultural exchange - including the eating of great food!
One of the features of this year's festival is a showcase of performances highlighting the cultural expressions of Tepper students. Performing on a stage constructed in the Tepper School lobby were students from China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Romania, Africa, India, Hong Kong and Turkey. They worked hard in the month before the festival to prepare, exchanging notes, learning traditional dances and figuring out how to wear clothes from cultures other than their own.
This year's festival also continued the grand tradition of presenting food from the broad array of cultures and countries represented at the Tepper School - 28 different food booths this year. Further, the event was webcast for alumni and students who were not be able to make it; no capability yet to transport the tantalizing taste and smells wafting through the school's corridors.
The International Festival has evolved over the years from a small event in a few classrooms to the large multi-space festival organized for in 2008, involving some 500 people, including prospective students and those admitted for next fall. Based on this year's event, next year's class will have their work cut out if they are to make next year's festival even better.
