There is a wide variety of activities students can choose or combine to meet the goals for the Professional Services Project.

These include activities in Tepper School of Business, the Carnegie Mellon Campus, and the local and international communities. Many of these opportunities are listed below.

Clubs and Organizations:
Students may fulfill 70-201 by demonstrating high impact in terms of both quantity and quality of personal contribution, to an Undergraduate Business  or University club or organization.

Wednesday Night Insights:
Several Wednesday evenings each semester, from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. in Simon Auditorium, professional speakers representating a broad range of business-related interests are invited to address students, followed by a question-and-answer session.

Career Center Programs:
The Career Center provides career development opportunities for students such as career shadowing, a site-visit program and a workshop on how to negotiate job offers.

University Lecture Series:
Students must go to ten lentures and write a two-page (single-spaced) paper on each one, detailing what they learned and how it relates to course objectives to fulfill 70-201. Alternatively, students can supplement with other 70-201 activities, to create a more comprehensive portfolio.

Student Life Service Programs:
Student Life Service Programs include: orientation service projects, Summit, Mid-semester break trip (fall), the Thanksgiving service project, MLK service projects and dimension programs.

Academic Courses:
Certain academic courses can be used to complete 70-201, such as 15-502 and 15-391. Please discuss this option with an advisor.

Community Organization Projects:
If you believe you are achieving the goals of 70-201 through participation in a community organization, please arrange a meeting with Lauren Silverstein or Dr. Cofield to discuss your involvement. Additionally, community organizations often contact the department soliciting student involvement in their activities, which may also be used to meet the service requirement.

Junior Achievement:
Junior Achievement (JA) is a group of people passionate about inspiring kids to learn the economics of life thorugh free enterprise education. JA enables caring business professionsl to share their experience with students to show them what it takes to be successful.

Milton and Cynthia Friedman Scholarship Program:
Six-to-ten grants of up to $3,000, designed to foster significant work experiences that complement students' academic work, are available each summer to Carnegie Mellon students for policy-related internships located in the nation's capital.

Institute on Philanthropy and Voluntary Service:
Undergraduate student leaders who are engaged in service programs on and off their campuses can apply for enrollment at Georgetown University, live in a furnished apartment on campus in the heart of DC, and be placed in a competitive internship for eight weeks. Students attend exclusive events and participate in hands-on activities.
